Helping Our Community

MISSION

The James 1:27 Foundation was born of a desire God placed in the hearts of four couples who had been meeting for several years to study the Bible. The more they learned about God's Word, the more the Holy Spirit impressed upon their hearts the need to put His commands into action. They were drawn to the Bible passage James 1:27 which instructs Christians "to look after orphans and widow in their distress." In the spring of 2001, their efforts and prayers culminated in the establishment of a non-profit foundation that strives to meet the spiritual, emotional and financial needs of widows and orphans living primarily in the Winchester Virginia, area.

OUTREACH

The James 1:27 Foundation provides aid to widows and orphans in a variety of forms, depending on the need. Foremost, board members and a team of volunteers are committed to daily prayer support for those who seek assistance. Emotional burdens may be lifted through encouragement and Biblical mentoring. Financial assistance may include defraying emergency expenses, providing temporary relief from the cost of living, and helping individuals pursue educational and employment opportunities. Services such as running errands, making deliveries, helping with household chores, and providing transportation may also be available.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
